Anup H. Patel, D.O.
A physician trained to find exactly where pain comes from, treat it precisely, and get you moving again. He sees every patient himself.
Dr. Anup Patel is a dual board-certified physician in Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) practicing at Edison Spine & Pain Management, 1692 Oak Tree Road, Edison, NJ. He completed residency at Nassau University Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident, and a fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Interventional Pain Medicine · Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Two board certifications. One physician who sees you at every visit.
Dr. Patel’s training spans two specialties that rarely sit in one physician. Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, often called physiatry, focuses on the muscles, nerves and joints that let people move, and on restoring function after injury or illness. Pain Medicine focuses on diagnosing the specific source of pain and treating it with targeted, minimally invasive procedures.
Together they shape how he practices. He starts with a careful history and exam, uses imaging and nerve testing to confirm the cause, and treats conservatively first. When a procedure is the right next step, he performs it himself under image guidance. The aim is always the same: less pain and a return to the life you had.
During residency at Nassau University Medical Center on Long Island he served as Chief Resident and was recognized for compassionate care. He explains what he sees, what it means and what the options are, then lets you decide.

During his fellowship at Penn State Hershey, Dr. Patel published a study of how contrast dye spreads when a needle reaches the subdural space in the lower back, a detail that matters for safe, accurate spinal injections.
